The Press Committee embodies the vital role of media in a democratic society, highlighting the importance of press freedom and transparency. As the voice of the conference, it reports on debates, uncovers key developments, and ensures accountability by overseeing the activities of all committees during MaltMUN 2025. Through articles, interviews, and creative media, the committee captures the essence of the proceedings while promoting informed discussions and holding authoritative institutions to account.<\/p>

CONCEPT<\/u><\/b><\/p>

This year, our Press Team isn\u2019t just reporting the news. We\u2019re shaping the narrative.<\/p>

Our media plan builds on a powerful foundation: assigning journalists to represent real-world news agencies (as seen through the slides), each with distinct editorial biases and geopolitical affiliations. Our reporters will cover debates through divergent lenses, crafting competing storylines that reflect the polarized landscape of modern media. Press conferences and exclusive interviews will offer dynamic points of contact between delegates and the press: allowing delegates to sway coverage, defend positions, or be caught off guard by tough questions. We transform MUN journalism from passive observation into active simulation.<\/p>

But we\u2019re taking things even further. \ud83d\udc40<\/p>

This year, we\u2019re doubling down on visual and social media content: infographics, reels, photo reports, and bite-sized coverage will provide fast, digestible updates that meet delegates where they are: on their phones. A daily visual news segment will distill each day\u2019s major developments in an engaging, accessible format that brings the entire conference to life. With more immersive storytelling tools at their disposal, press members can dive into photojournalism, experiment with design, or produce video packages that summarize the day\u2019s most dramatic moments. And with a modern aesthetic, we\u2019ll ensure our coverage resonates with the next generation of MUNers.<\/p>

EIC - Jonas Pardamean Simorangkir<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Jonas Simorangkir is currently wrapping up his Master\u2019s in Biodiversity: Ecology, Evolution and Conservation while working as a Student Research Assistant at the University of G\u00f6ttingen, Germany. After several years in various MUN roles, Editor-In-Chief among his very favorites, he had largely stepped away from the circuit, until certain persuasive forces (and the Mediterranean sun) convinced him to return for one last encore. Outside of conferences, Jonas is usually found reading too many books, shooting or watching hoops, playing piano, wandering through nature, or, since recently, tinkering with his camera in search of the perfect shot.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

EIC - Christine Langman\n<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Christine Langman is a third year Fine Arts student in Salamanca, originally from Panama City, Panama. Starting her MUN journey 8 years ago helped her come out of her shell and find her love for public speaking. She is extremely excited to continue her contributions to the MUN \u201ccult\u201d. Apart from this, she’s a lover of the arts, crochet, and sharing pictures of her dachshund Yuka. A chronic yapper, and a better listener, you can talk to her about whatever you want, and she will be entertained. Mathea is a 23-year-old BA graduate in Theatre Studies and Communication Studies and an MA graduate in Visual Communications. With over 7 years of debating experience, she has dedicated the past 2 years to MUNs, and has previously served as MaltMUN’s PR officer for 2 years. She is excited to return to MaltMUN, this time as editor-in-chief for Press Corps, where her experience in journalism and content writing is sure to aid her in helping this year’s journalists shine and explore new skills.
