1. Introduction
1.1 These are the Terms and Conditions applicable to all Services offered by the MaltMUN Society.
1.2. MaltMUN offers Services to young persons, being:
1.2.1 Persons who are between the ages of 16 to 35 years old.
Therefore, natural persons need not be of full age; that is eighteen (18) years of age or higher, depending on the person’s domicile, residence or jurisdiction.
While persons below the age of 18 are allowed to participate in the Conference, they are expressly excluded from entering the Conference social venues.
1.3. No one shall have an inherent or vested right to participate and become a member of MaltMUN. The acceptance of such participation and membership is at the discretion of MaltMUN.
4.4. Users of the Website are required to keep their information accurate and up-to-date, and to update such information accordingly when relevant changes occur.
2. Voluntary Organisation Status
2.1 For identity purposes, the Malta Model United Nations Society Association is a Registered Voluntary Organisation in the Republic of Malta with VO/0800.
3. Definitions
Delegate | A delegate is someone who has successfully applied to attend a MaltMUN Conference. |
Registrant | A registrant is someone who has registered to attend Our annual Conference. People can register online solely through the MaltMUN Website. Registration is considered successful once all fields are filled in and after payment of the delegate fee is effected. |
Malta Model United Nations Society | A Maltese registered voluntary organisation (VO/0800). These Terms and Conditions may refer to Our organisation as ‘MaltMUN’, ‘Society’, ‘Model UN’, ‘Conferences’, ‘Our’, ‘Us’, or ‘We’. |
Staff | Includes a person who has applied to staff Our annual Conference. These include Chairing, Press and Secretariat members. |
Service | Service refers to the MaltMUN Website (https://maltmun.org.mt) and other content operated by MaltMUN. |
User | A User is any living individual who is using Our Service and is the subject of Personal Data. This term may also be used interchangeably collectively to refer to a visitor, newsletter subscriber, registrant, applicant or business partner. These Terms and Conditions will refer to a User as ‘You’ or ‘Your’. |

8.1. MaltMUN reserves the right to use all data submitted by individuals via Our Website, sent to the MaltMUN Society by other ways, and collected during the conference and social events including video footage and photographs, subject to the limitations in our Privacy Policy. MaltMUN reserves the right to collect data during the conference and social events including but not limited to personal data, video footage, and photographs without further notice.

9.1. All information is provided by the MaltMUN Society. While We try to keep the information up-to-date and correct, We make no representations or warranties of any kind, express or implied, about the completeness, accuracy, reliability, suitability or availability with respect to the Website or the information, products, services, or related graphics contained on the Website for any purpose. Any reliance You place on such information is therefore strictly at Your own risk.
9.2. In no event will We be liable for any loss or damage, including without limitation, indirect or consequential loss or damage, or any loss or damage whatsoever arising from loss of data or profits arising out of, or in connection with, the use of this Website.
9.3. Through this Website, You are able to link to other websites which are not under the control of MaltMUN. We have no control over the nature, content and availability of those websites. The inclusion of any links does not necessarily imply a recommendation or endorse the views expressed within them.
9.4. Every effort is made to keep the Website up and running smoothly. However, MaltMUN takes no responsibility for, and will not be liable for, the Website being temporarily unavailable due to technical issues.
10. Intellectual Property Rights
10.1 MaltMUN claims copyright on all of the data available on the Website, including but not limited to the MaltMUN logo, format and screen design of the Website, on all other data related to and released by MaltMUN and on all contents created during or for MaltMUN or those that are submitted to MaltMUN. The MaltMUN Society claims copyright on all of its printed material. Some images on the Website and printed material are used under license and may not be stored or reproduced without the consent of the copyright holder. All rights are reserved. No part of this website may be reproduced in any form by any means or stored in an information retrieval system without the permission in writing of MaltMUN.
10.2 All other texts, graphics, editorial content, logos, data, formatting, graphs, designs, HTML, look and feel, photographs, music, sounds, images, software, videos, designs, typefaces and all other content or material found on the Website not claimed by MaltMUN is subject to third party protection. You acknowledge that the availability of this material not claimed by MaltMUN does not authorise You to make use of such material Yourself in a manner which would be in breach of third-party intellectual property rights.
10.3 Your failure to abide by this will expose You to damages, and in the case of a breach of any third-party rights, You agree to defend, indemnify and hold Us harmless against all claims, actions or suits which may be brought in connection with this breach.
11. Liability
11.1. Participants are expected and obliged to obey the laws of the Republic of Malta while participating in the events of MaltMUN.
11.2. Participants are personally responsible for all charges and damages to facilities of the conference and social events venues.
11.3. MaltMUN does not provide liability insurance for the protection of individuals or groups who participate in the conference.
11.4. Each individual and delegation agreeing to these Terms and Conditions releases and discharges MaltMUN, its Secretariat, and Staff jointly and severally from any and all actions, causes of actions, claims, liabilities, costs, obligations and demands, including without limitation attorneys’ fees and expenses for, upon or by reason of loss, damage, injury, or death, which hereafter may be sustained by participating in any activities connected with MaltMUN. This involves especially compensation, in part or in whole, for losses, damages, injuries or death incurred at or in connection with MaltMUN.
11.5. MaltMUN will not offer any services to minors without an express release of liability signed by a parent or legal guardian. No refunds will be made to minors who fail to demonstrate a signed accident waiver by a parent or legal guardian upon registration at the conference facilities.
11.6. Only delegates who are over 18 years of age will be allowed to purchase Social Packs. Anyone who is under the age of 18 and purchases a social pack will be refunded the social pack fee and will be denied entry to the social events. ID cards or other appropriate official documentation must be presented at the entrance of Our venues.
12. Termination and Right to Exclude
12.1 MaltMUN reserves the right to exclude specific individuals or groups of individuals from its offered Services. MaltMUN excludes any legal actions on the side of the individual or group of individuals related to a possible exclusion. No exclusions shall be made on grounds including but not limited to gender identity, race, sexual orientation, religion or national origin.
12.2 MaltMUN may, without prior notice, terminate Your application and suspend or permanently block Your access to the Website at any time for any valid reason, including due to any improper use of the Website or failure to comply with these Terms or other terms which have been incorporated herein by reference.
13. Notice
13.1. Any notice or other communication to be given by Us in connection with these Terms shall be by electronic mail through info@maltmun.org.mt
14. Indemnity
14.1. You agree to fully release MaltMUN from any claims which third parties might assert against MaltMUN due to an infringement of their rights, or a breach of duty or a breach of a contractual obligation You may have been liable to. Reasonable costs of a legal defence (in particular, attorney fees) which MaltMUN has demonstrably incurred through Your misconduct, must also be reimbursed in full.
15. Miscellaneous Provisions
15.1. We do not insist immediately that You do anything You are required to do under these Terms. If We delay in taking steps against You in respect of Your breach of these Terms, that will not mean that You do not have to do those things and it will not prevent Us from taking steps against You at a later date.
15.2. We reserve the right to make changes to these Terms from time to time. We shall notify You with the updated Terms and shall also post these updates on Our Website. Unless You communicate otherwise within one (1) week of Your receipt of these updated Terms or upon Us posting these updates on Our Website (whichever is earlier), You will be assumed to have accepted and consented to the updated Terms in full.
16. Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
16.1. The legal relationship between the parties to these Terms is subject exclusively to the Laws of Malta.
16.2. For all disputes which may arise between You and MaltMUN in relation to these Terms or as generally arising from the use of the Services offered by MaltMUN, the parties will make all amicable attempts to resolve the dispute in the least onerous manner and without the need of instituting judicial proceedings (of whatever form or nature). However, if the dispute cannot be resolved, the parties agree that the Courts of Malta shall have exclusive jurisdiction to hear and determine the dispute.
16.3. Proceedings regarding disputes must be commenced in a court of competent jurisdiction in Malta within six (6) months after the dispute arose. Any shorter time limit provided by statute or other law remains unaffected.
17. Validity of Terms
17.1. If any court or other authority finds any clause or provision in these Terms, or part thereof, to be illegal, the rest of the Terms, including the unaffected part of the clause or provision concerned, will continue to apply in full force and effect.
